My name is Patty Essink...
Helping children to develop their Dutch language skills in a personal-, relaxed- and safe environment is what I believe in and what I have been doing for over 35 years as a teacher for the 4-8 year old.
Since I started teaching non-native Dutch children 15 years ago I have experienced that very often they are having trouble to explore their full capacity and self-confidence while this is completely unnecessary. Mostly this is due to their (logical) backdrop in knowledge of Dutch language in all its aspects like vocabulary, grammar and day to day expressive language to name a few.
I have recognised during all this time that sometimes the very young kids - and as a result their parents - have started feeling...
But I have also experienced that all the time they are not far off from exploiting their capacity and talents in life and I believe that just an overseeable extra "next-to-school-" effort can help close the gap for them in order to fully participate in and enjoy day to day life.
Knowing this I decided that I should use my experience and enthusiasm of working with the kids and take them an important step further.

MY PERSONAL APPROACH
Child Centered Remedial Teaching
MY WAY OF TEACHING
CUSTOMISED: Adapted to your child's Dutch language level and your child's interests and likings. Does your child have a favorite book? Does your child like to dance? Or to sing? Does your child like to tinker?
MOVEMENT: Active learning & muscle memory.
VOCABULARY: Basic vocabulary practical knowledge; Vocabulary, pronounciation, sentence structure and grammar are worked on. Precursor to learning to read and write - language concepts are also needed for math. Also preparation for the lessons of group 3 by means of auditory and visual exercises. Sound gestures and pictograms are used for support.
EMOTIONS: Expressive language & descriptive words.
CREATIVITY: Integration of games, arts & crafts and current school projects.
REPETITION: Custom tools/homework for home repetition & -development.
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT: Weekly online parent debrief; contact with the kids' school is also possible.
THE ADAPTIVE & FLEXIBLE PROGRAM
WHAT?
Basic child adapted remedial training reading & speaking Dutch in personal (group) lessons.
FOR WHOM?
For kids 3-16 years old.
HOW?
Starting with a minimum of 6 lessons of 45 minutes. After first 6 lessons you can book each following lesson on request.
Weekly personalised home working tasks.
WHEN?
Individualised small group (1-4 children) lessons on Wednesday afternoons 15.45-16.30 & 16.45-17.30; also during school holidays if needed.
WHERE?
At tutor's home in Son en Breugel (near shops, forest, playground)
WHAT DOES IT COST?
The first trial/intake lesson is for FREE. After that you pay €205,- for 6 lessons 0f 45 minutes each.
After lesson 6 you can book one-off lessons: €35,- per lesson.
Weekend lessons (Saturday morning 9.30-10.15) possible on request with a 40% markup on the price.

Plan your FREE intake and introductory lesson by submitting the form below and complete the questionnaire that will be send to you after submission, so we know some basic details about your child and you, in order to get a general sense of what you're looking for.
Personal intake
On receipt of the questionnaire I will contact you for planning the first FREE introductory lesson- and intake session where I can meet with you and your child.
First FREE lesson
The first FREE introductory lesson will be used to become acquainted and to draft a personal teaching plan for your child.
Payment and start with the six first lessons
We will review the FREE intake lesson and after your entry in the program we will create an individual plan and start the tutoring.
